Solved: Password Protection
I know I already asked this question once but I'm trying a new tactic .

So I'm trying to password protect one page of a website that contains YouTube videos (it's a long story, the videos are not private, but I want to pswrd that page).

Is it possible to do this?

I'm looking at the .htacess but I've been staring at the computer all morning and am starting to go cross-eyes, nothing is going IN. Can someone explain it to me in a different way?

Is that the BEST solution for what I want to do?

So you don't have a problem with the htaccess but with your ftp programme that is what you want to concentrate on.

I think it's just the way the cpannel on my server is set up (thanks for the suggestion though)

Anyway, I found a really simple java script that is working - it's more then good enough for what I need

Using javascript for this is not secure but if you are happy then that is OK but be aware it isn't really secure anyone with a little knowledge will be able to get past the javascript security.

Thanks, I know, it's okay .

It's just so that the average visitor to the site can't see videos of the students falling & such; but I hosted them on YouTube!! They really aren't private at all .

I may one day sort out this .htaccess thing - but for now it's just too confusing for me :S.
