Why is Apache and php not working?
I installed apache a few times and it didn't seem to be working. One of the times I manually deleted the files, i'm thinking perhaps that could have done some damage.

Yesterday i installed Xampp and apache and php doesn't work. (mysql works.) I made an echo statement and my browser didn't process it.

Could something be wrong with my browser perhaps?

How do I go about figuring out what's the problem?

Is the apache service running? Have you configured apache for your site? Have you configured apache to recognize .php files?

I'm using apache as a local service on my pc for learning. I start the apache service from xampp but when I type in http:\\localhost or whatever it is that says in the book (i don't have it in front of me now),
or i click on status in the xampp for apache, Firefox just goes and goes and never loads.

Do you have Skype running on your PC? If so turn it off whilst using Xampp.

No skype.

It seems that there was a problem with my Firefox, I put http://localhost/xampp/ in ie8 and i was able to see the info.

But when i insert an php echo tag IE doesn't process it.

How do i figure why php is not working? Or maybe it's apache?

The answer is probably in your httpd.conf file. Here's an article that contains good info about configuring php with xampp: http://netbeans.org/kb/docs/php/conf...t-windows.html
