Producing search results from external databases
If I had a website where people could search for, let's say, a book, how could you have a search function which searches an existing database of books and then produce the results on my own website?

So, a user wants to buy/sell a book and starts typing in the name/ISDN of that book when they're listing/searching for it. The term they enter is then searched for in a number of book databases.

I would like to know if/how this would be possible. What are the limitations, disadvantages, or issues with having such a function? Are there comprehensive and up-to-date databases that exist which could be used by an external site in this way?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check out the "How can I use book data on my site?" question on the FAQ page of ISBNdb.com.
