Solved: div problem
Hi guys

I`ve got the following code, but I haven`t touched in an html or css coding for about an year now and have forgotten a whole bunch of useful things.

I have the followng code:

HTML Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style type="text/css">
body{padding:0 auto; margin:0 auto}
div#master_page{width:auto; height:auto; margin:0 auto; padding: 0 auto}
div#master{width:913px; height:100%; margin:0 auto; padding:0 auto; float:left}
div#header {width:913px; height:203px; background-color:#FFF; float:left}
div#logo {width:200px; height:203px; background-color:#03C; float:left}
div#banner {width:713px; height:139px; background-color:#F00; float:left}
div#menu_master {width:702px; height:59px; background-color:#FFF; border: solid 1px #737373; margin: 5px 5px 0px 5px; float:left}
div#menu_today {width:903px; height:215px; background-color:#FFF; border: solid 1px #737373; margin: 5px 5px 0px 5px; float:left}
div#left_column {width:194px; height:295px; background-color:#FFF; border: solid 1px #737373; margin: 5px 0px 0px 5px; float:left}
div#content {width:702px; height:295px; background-color:#FFF; border: solid 1px #737373; margin: 5px 5px 0px 5px; float:left}
div#footer{width:100%; height:200px; margin:0 auto; padding: 0 auto; background-color:#424242; margin: 5px 0px 0px 0px; float:left}
</style>
</head>

<body>
<div id="master-page">
<div id="master">
    <div id="header">
        <div id="logo"></div>
        <div id="banner"></div>
        <div id="menu_master"></div>
    </div>
    <div id="menu_today">
    </div>
    <div id="left_column">
    </div>
    <div id="content">
    </div>
</div>
</div>
<div id="footer">
</div>
</body>
</html>
If you preview it, you`ll notice that the divs just don`t appear as they show on dreamweaver (for example). Why? What can I possibily be doing wrong?

Well, the first thing you should do is post a screenshot of what it's supposed to look like.

Peace...

Well, the first thing you could do would be to paste it on a notepad file or a code previewer and see the problem, gess its much easier to see it by your own eyes

By the way, I`ve solved the problem, just by making some ajustments with the divs, as some of them contained borders and I forgot to count the side borders as a part of its width, so the result would be some kind of buggy reaction of the browser on the reading process.

Thanks anyway

The funny thing is, I did do this and saw the boxes arranged in "interesting" ways. Of course, without knowing at all how you were wanting the boxes to lay out, the disarrangement I did see provided no clues as to what you were after. I guess I need to work on my ability to read minds....

Glad you got it sorted out.

Peace...
