Arrow Html email syntax question
Does anyone know how to format an email link to send an email on a website? I'm looking for the synyax to be in html. I know the basics but I want to have the link automatically send when the link is clicked. I don't want to have to click "send" in the email that pops up; rather, I want the email to instantly fire off on 1 click. All I need is the send syntax & how to install it in the code. Thanks in advance.

This is what I have so far:

That won't work. That will cause the browser to start the system default mail application for the user to manually click "Send" to send the message. If you want the message to be sent when they click a button or something on your page, you'll need to use a HTML form with some kind of script to send the message to the e-mail address you specify in the script.

Peace...

No problemo. If you do searches on the web or on this forum for "HTML form" you'll find tons of info on HTML forms, the bulk of which collect data and e-mail it to a designated e-mail address.

Good luck!

Html is not able to send mail by itself as it was designed to tell the browser what should be in a page. If your host supports PHP then you could use the Mail function.

The other reason not to use mailto: is that it leaves your email address 'harvestable' by spammers. Contact forms are a good solution and people are used to using them. But either buy a reliable script or if coding yourself ensure you're aware of and know how to code to prevent 'injection attacks' (another spammer trick!).

Why buy one when there are reliable form processing scripts available for free?

That's too big a debate for here :-)

Substitute 'get' for 'buy'. Reliable is the important bit. And support.
