Exclamation Nameservers?
Hey guys,

Hope you're all doing well today.

I was wondering, is it possible to host multiple sections of the same website on different servers?

For example, let's say I have three hosting accounts:
(1) A shared hosting account at one place
(2) A shared hosting account at a different place
(3) A VPS hosting account at another place

Now, suppose I have a domain www.mydomain.com with Wordpress installed on it.

Is it possible for me to hook up the main homepage with (1), subdomains with (2), and a server intensive part of the website like www.mydomain.com/serverintense with (3)?

Or is it only possible to host a single host for one website?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

As far as I know it's one nameserver per domain with up to 3 backups.
But they can't be used individually to point to the same domain.
You can, however spread webpage files across domains and subdomains
and link to them like external webpages.
More likely to slow the site down that way,in my opinion.

I don't think you can define subdomains in different DNS servers. What problem are you trying to solve?

Peace...

Normally for volume you'd load balance across different servers, or you can use cloud computing type resources, or load video/images from elsewhere. But I don't believe you can split resources at a DNS level.

You can do subdomains and wordpress ones. You set up a new A record for the subdomain and point that to the IP address of your server. The only bit i can see that might be a problem is dependant on the server settings if there is no hostheader/virtual host on the server for those subdomains they wont work. Might be worth enquiring with your host. The www.mydomain.com/serverintense part is the only bit that isn't possible as the www record would be pointing to the wordpress server.

But this is in the same DNS where the primary domain is defined, correct?

Peace...

yeah you have an @ record for the main one where the www record points to and add another for the subdomains.

Yeah, I've done that before. I just wanted to make sure you were not talking about spreading this across different DNS servers.

We're on the same page.

Peace...

you can have php include files, java script files, images and your mysql database coming from another sever if you so wish but you can not have web pages stored on other files and access them with the same domain name. i hope this clears everything up
