In November of last year, my laptop suffered water damage and I needed my hard-drive replaced.

Since then, I have noticed worse performance when playing games, even online Flash ones, and generally much slower Internet, even with videos. One difference from before is the high memory usage; it's running at around 60% with only the browser open, which corresponds to 1.9 GB. When it gets in excess of 70%, things really lag.

Interesting note- My processes only take up about 390 mb of my memory, but the services account for the other 1.8 GB at the moment.

Uh, what about it? I have uTorrent installed but not in use, yes? It's a normal program that I am well aware of.

As for the antivirus, I have Microsoft Security Essentials and occasionally run nod32. There is no malware that I found, and this problem with the slow Internet speed occurred before anything was even installed.

I asked a friend of mine, and apparently, my memory usage for Firefox and plugin container is unusually high. Even in Chrome, my laptop was using over 430k of memory,(It steadily increased over time) while for him, it was only about 110k. Any ideas on solving this?

You will need to right click and run these tools as admin.


Please download FarbarServiceScanner and run it on the computer with the issue.


Make sure the following options are checked:
Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center/Action Center
Windows Update

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:


Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries

...Yeah. You do realize some of the information that you're asking me to post is highly sensitive and would make my computer a cinch to hack? I don't know whether you're a troll or a legitimate member, but the above is a little ridiculous, especially since I have posted results from Task Manager, (and what is making it run slow; high memory and CPU usage) Hijack this, and system specs.

There is also relatively little documentation on Farbar Service Scanner, and a quick Internet search reveals several bugs. (I haven't even checked up on Minitoolbox...)

Once again, some of the information you ask is in no way related to computer performance, but does make one's computer readily identifiable and easy as hell to hack.

I notice you didn't respond this. You also didn't respond to the fact that the first program you are suggesting has limited documentation and numerous bugs. I also notice that you only signed up for the site this month and are in no way verified.

I'm looking to fix a performance problem, not create new and potentially more serious ones.

Also are you really saying that installed programs has nothing to do with system performance????????????Farbar minitool box and service scanner are well known applications.......... You can edit the ip and the mac address the rest of the info will give no person on earth the ability to identify you I offered help and you are giving me the third degree about the programs that I requested you run..........Good luck on getting you problem solved with out providing information or editing the info you post that is like puttting a bandaide on a cut and asking a doctor to check it without removing the bandaide......Once again goodluck..
