Solved: Thunderbird Identities
A few years back I used Outlooks Express. I had it setup with multiple ID's. With password required to access each.
Does anyone know how to do this with Thunderbird email?
That you.

I think but not sure.

Open TB and go to tools, account setting.
Highlight sever setting.
On the right click on advanced button.

Your see the box to check for it.

But I never used this so do not know anymore.

The Thunderbird equivalent of an OE Identity is a Profile.
Each Profile is independent of other Profiles.

Password protecting each Profile is a relative matter. It depends on what level of security for each you want.
Give a read HERE for some basics of what you can do.

Thank you for responses. I've learned the correct term is profile instead of identity. Beyond that, I'm still confused, mainly because there is Tools but no Switch Profiles.
In time I'll get it, I hope!

You switch to another Profile using the Profile Manager. See the link I posted.
There isn't a way to open the Profile Manager in TB as TB needs to be closed when using it.

If you uncheck the "Don't ask at startup" on the Profile Manager, it will automatically open when you click the Thunderbird icon so you can select the Profile you want to use.

You CAN customize individual shortcuts to open each Profile without using the Profile Manager.
That would be the way to do it if each person using the computer has their own Windows profile and desktop. Each user has a shortcut on their desktop that opens their TB Profile.
Does that help?

Thanks throoper and I do appreciate your help. Even though it's outdated, I got an understanding to search. http://grok.lsu.edu/article.aspx?articleid=7468 The hoops are gone

Just press start▬ type "thunderbird.exe -ProfileManager" without quotes▬ press Enter and follow prompts

I was going nutz trying to access it through Firefox
