Solved: Missing Send button in Thunderbird.
I am having a problem with Mozilla Thunderbird Version 15.0.1

My send and attachment buttons are gone. I have already checked everything under View, and yes, everything under Toolbars is selected. The buttons are not in the Customize.... selection either. They are just gone. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and that did not help.

I am attempting to fix this on a friend's computer, and may not always have access to it when (if) someone offers a suggestion, but I would really appreciate the help if possible.

Thank you.

can we see a screen shot

To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
OR
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Have to ask. You are looking in a Compose window and not the Main message window, right?
Try clicking the "Restore default set" button in the Compose window's Customize window.

There is nowhere I can right-click in the Write box that makes the two items you showed me in the attachment appear. Are we using the same version of Thunderbird? Also I noticed that in the image you posted that all of your `File. Insert. Format...' are all there. If you look at image 5 posted above you will see that I have none of those can cannot right click next to them.

What is going on!?

Thank you.

Anyone have any more ideas?

You have to right click the menu bar.

OK image 5 I see your missing the whole menu bar so have no place to right click to bring menu back.

Go to Window start, programs and to Mozilla Thunderbird, Mozilla Thunderbird (Safe Mode)
Start Thunderbird in (Safe Mode) and see if you can see things.

i did the same thing - removed the menus ticked and then could not get them back

so i went to programs
and held the shift key down and clicked on the thunderbird program
a menu appeared and i
choose to set back to defaults

now the menu is back - just need to reconfigure the other stuff now

so try that

Thanks etaf for the tip.

But how you did you remove the menu ticked for the "Menu bar" part because I do not see that part in ThunderBird 3.x

Open a Compose window and press the Alt key on your keyboard. The Menubar will open and you can click View>Toolbars and place a check next to Menubar and Composition bar so they will stay open.

FYI: All the screensots except 5 and 6 are of the Main message window. The Compose window has it's own customize dialogue that contains different buttons than the main window customize dialogue.

Older versions of TB didn't have an option to hide the menu bar. I think it was around version 5 they added that so people could get a "cleaner" look to it and pressing the Alt key would give you access to it.
