reboot preferably into safe mode & NAVIGATE TO & DELETE the following files or folders

it's not windows update it's a trojan pretending to be windows update and it's downloading the spyware you are complaining about.

We never tell you to delete or remove genuine needed files on this forum

And that's why we ALWAYS say don't fix anything yourself get someone who knows to check the log first.

The parasites make it as hard a spossible to remove them and one common trick is to have a file name that is similar to a genuine windows file so people get confused and won't remove them

Same Problem
Hey, I'm glad I found this thread, as I am having a similar problem. I followed the steps the previous user did...

and yes i managed to remove the search bar from the top of my ie... but now it's on the left side... in a really awakward and screwed up fashion.

I've uploaded a picture. As you can see the bar has moved from it's previous position (top right) to the left.

Scan with HijackThis, put a checkmark at and "Fix checked" the following entries. Close all windows except HijackThis before fixing.

Shutdown & Normal Reboot



Download and install Spybot search & destroy www.security.kolla.de Open Spybot search & destroy , Click Online , Search for updates , Download all available updates , log offline , Close all browser windows , check your taskbar for minimized windows as well , Run Spybot search & destroy , put a check in every entry Spybot search & destroy returns , Click fix problems.

Shutdown & Reboot your computer

To prevent the installation and running of Spyware active X controls download and install SpywareBlaster www.wilderssecurity.net/index.html Open SpywareBlaster , Click select all , Click Protect Against Checked Items! , Click settings , put a check in only show New/Unprotected items on the protection list after an update , Click save settings , Click check for updates , download all available updated definitions , Click select all , Click protect against checked items.
