Have you tried calling your DSL provider and telling them your problem? If not, thats the best thing to do. If you have or havent do this anyway to check to see if anything could be causing it or any other stuff:
1.)Download HijackThis> http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip When downloaded extract it & run the program.
2.)When its open click -scan- and when its finished click -save log-. Save it to a place you will remember.
3.)Locate where the file is and right click it, choose open with, and click notepad.
4.)When its open in notepad go to -edit-, and -select all-. Right click and copy, and paste it in your post.

You may also want to check www.dslreports.com

They have forums split out by provider and it's a great source to find out if others are having similar problems (if it's an outage or slowdown in your area, etc.).

Safe Mode: reboot and while it's coming back up, after the BIOS screen pops up, hit F8....if you're not sure about when to hit F8, just click on it every couple of seconds until a black menu screen pops up asking how you want to boot. Safe Mode is one of the options.

Basically, it boots your machine up in a "barebones" sort of fashion (without a lot of the drivers and software you may have installed). It's one way to determine if drivers/softwaer are causing conflicts, and because they aren't loaded, are easier to remove. By the way, to wig out if the display looks different than the way you've set it up....that's normal.

Hope this helps,

MBN
