[solved]Unwanted Favorites won't go away
Several folders, with links in each, were added to my Favorites menu and folder. I deleted them, but each time I launch IE6, they are back again. I know they probably came from adware or spyware, but I have gone through the add/delete programs and removed all that look suspicious. I ran a couple of ad/spy deletion programs, but the problem still exists. It may be a problem in the registry or maybe someone can suggest another ad/spy ware deletion program. I just want to get rid of these from my Favorites for good. Thanks.

Try this:

Remove the ones you don't want.

Restart in safe mode

Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab. Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK".

Now empty these folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\all profiles\local settings\temp
c:\temp
c:\windows\temp

Empty your recycle bin.

Reboot.

If they come back perhaps you should post a HJT log for us to review.

Still had the same problem. Here is the HJT log. The quicksearch toolbar and the HKCU stuff didn't look familiar. Help if you can. Thanks.
