Into unused space on the server HDD's when the database gets regularly compacted, then gets written over - eventually.

Except for the backups which should be available off-line for a period.

If normal procedures are followed....

Unless someone here has access to Yahoo's servers, I don't know how anyone can tell you where their backups are stored and such. You deleted it, it's gone. There's nothing you, personally, can do to get it back.
Of course you could always TRY reaching the Yahoo people and somehow convince them to restore it for you but I kinda doubt that will ever happen.
