Solved: Reuse IE windows
XP Pro, SP2....just started using Outlook and when clicking on email links, if I had a TSG web page open, when I clicked on the next email message link, the window would open in the SAME one. I have checked the setting to reuse same window, so I must be missing something else

No ideas? Anyone? Help

I did an XP Pro reinstall (not related to this problem, crashed and burned along the way) and have not yet installed SP2 and still have the same problem

Thanks for that, actually, I'm trying to do the OPPOSITE. I WANT it to use the same window so I don't end up with 15 Tech Support Guy windows that I have to manually close

Ooh. Can you right click on your tool bar and then goto "group similar task"
You mean like that? I mean that will work wont it?

It was hard to find information on that.
Every site I checked wants the opposite of what you'd like They'd rather have it open to a new window. But you want to re-use the same one?

One thing that caught my eye was on the kellyskorner XP tweaks site, it had a link to something titled: "Reuse Same Window Internet Explorer"

Wonder if that would work?

Sometimes you need to remind IE. I would go back to advanced and uncheck reuse windows for launching shortcuts. Restart IE and re-check the setting. See if that makes any difference.

Thanks guys.

VG, I don't see that option, I did however notice the taskbar was locked, unlocked and didn't make a difference.

CB, I downloaded that regedit from Kelly's and ran it prior to my XP reinstall, that didn't change anything either

Mo, I tried what you suggested too, a couple of times, no change.

I just don't remember having this problem the last time I installed XP. One thing I haven't done with this particular install, is any updates yet. But, as I mentioned, I had the same problem a few days ago on my updated to SP2 with all patches, etc. applied.

Right click on the task bar next to the start button.

Right click on that bar ( i dont know if im calling it right)

Then goto properties

There is 2 tabs (task bar, startmenu)

Click on task bar so its showing and check (group similar task buttons)
