messenger won't sign in
i have this problem lately, i try to sign into windows live messenger, and halfway through the process, a window appears on the screen saying that the program can't sign in at this time, it suggests i might have a problem with my firewall or proxy settings. i used to sign in just fine but i did some changes in the registry due to some other issue i had, not all the changes were very knowingly, that might be the cause, i don't know. anyway, it shows error code: 80048820 extended error code:80048416. when i run the troubleshoot tool it shows that there are problems with the host files and the keyports.

Hello Nedman,
There are several other reasons that generates this error. I also guess it's a firewall issue. To get rid of this issue I would suggest you to follow the steps given in the post which covers some issues regarding
signing in windows live messenger
. Let me know if it works out for you. ATB

i just checked all the options, everything seemed to be in order, nothing missing, so i assumed i needed another solution, but then i ran tje messenger again and it worked. then i checked again and it didn't work and the same window appeared, so it's unstable.

Hi NedMan,
As you are saying that it is unstable, it's really strange to find out what could be the issue that is playing hide and seek with you
Did you check your internet connections, modem connections if any connector/cable is lose out there?
