BUMP I'm having the exact same problem. This is the only place where I've read this proble, and it's pretty recent from what I read.
My web browser won't work, vista detects the connection (wireless and ethernet) but just won't browse... only msn works...

I know the connection is working because the other computers in my house work correctly.
Any thoughts?

The problem could be the wireless cards in the laptops mentioned. Try running the ethernet cable from the modem directly into the laptop and see what happens.

pacer....the ethernet card may be malfunctioning. I'd have a pc tech take a look at it.

Kaworito....reinstall IE and everything should be fine.

Thanks for replying, 81lly...
Actually I dont think my problem has to do with IE, since my connection isn't working in IE NOR Firefox.
And I'm sure I'm not having a hardware problem, since I'm surfing the web normally in Ubuntu in my computer :S

This sucks.

Ok, got news. I started windows in safe mode with networking and guess what? Internet WORKS there... :S:S I'm even more confused now, I thought it was a vista problem but now I know it is another application what is causing the problem...
The thing is that I havent installed any new applications recently, so this is becoming more and more confusing. Any thoughts?

I tried this yesterday shutdown my daughters laptop, switched router off and left for 15 mins, then put both back on, she was able to surf ok then, i dont think this is a soluthion, because it will happen again.
