Question Wireless internet access on my laptop!
Hello,
I am heading up to Maryland with my laptop and would like to have access to the internet via a wireless connection om my Vaio laptop running Windows XP. I use ATT/SBCGlobal DSL at home. My question is this: Is there a company out there that will offer me wireless internet service for just a week or month or so without having to sign up for a one year term with activation fees etc.? When I get back I won't need internet service for my laptop on the road anymore.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Tim

Hi,

ATT&T has LaptopConnect:

I don't know what this costs, but it looks interesting>

There's quite a few more, haven't looked at the rest of these Google results:

I don't know of any wireless broadband providers that have a la carte plans allowing people to buy by the hour or day. I imagine eventually a company will take advantage of that market, but currently users have to have a contract.

We do a lot of traveling and use wifi all over the country. Our experience is, if your provider allows web mail access to your account, when you get on line with the wifi (many hotel/motel, restrauants) offer free access you just have to type in the webmail@whoever your server is.
Good luck and have a good trip.

I just used my laptop with a free wireless Internet access at the hotel in Washington. It didn't cost me a thing for unlimited access. Never had any contract nore welcome page to bug me. Check with the hotel for the type of access they offer.
