Exel Spredsheet Attachment
My wife has created an Excel address spreadsheet and wants to attach it to an E Mail to a friend. The friend cannot open the attachment. She doesn't have Excel on her computer. The spreadsheet file is a ( .xls ) How can this be done?

Microsoft offers a free viewer application for MS-Excel files that can be used by your wife's friend. The following page describes the viewer and has a download link.

NOTE: The free viewer allows opening and viewing the contents of Excel files. It does not permit changing the contents of the files.

Thank you Chuck. I E Mailed her the link. I don't understand why she is having problems because she has Microsoft Works on her computer and the Works web site seems to indicate that it will .She had recently had her computer worked on ,so maybe something got messed up. OE should access Works to open the attachment.

Maybe Windows doesn't know that it should use MS-Works to open a file with an XLS extension. In that case OE wouldn't know either.

That is one of the scenarios described in this MS article ...
