Incorrect shut down just to get on internet
Please can anyone help me, I am at the end of my tether with my Broadband connection. I currently have Broadband with ‘Talk Talk’, and I am using a
‘SmartAX MT882’ wired modem connected through my Ethernet port. My platform is windows Vista fully updated with all patches and services packs as they come out.
I run Bullguard for my firewall and anti-virus/anti spyware. I also have Spy-Sweeper as a dedicated spyware monitor.
I have had this same set up for about 6 months now, since moving from BT Internet.
After joining ‘Talk Talk’ I have had nothing but problems, from the outset I discovered that I cannot get an Internet connection except under the following bizarre circumstances.
1- I must first switch on the PC and modem.
2- Once fully loaded up I find that the LAN light on my modem is steady amber and the LINK light is steady green (for some unknown reason it is the orange light that signifies a connection not a green one) My network shows as local access only with a yellow triangle over the top of the network icon at the bottom right of the screen, this basically means I have no access to the internet.
3- NOW if I then switch my PC off at the wall without closing windows first, effectively shutting down incorrectly, leave it a few seconds and then switch the PC back on again, I initially get the screen which says ‘WINDOWS shut down unexpectedly would you like to start up in Normal mode or Safe mode’ I press enter to start up in Normal mode, and this time as WINDOWS is loading up I see the LINK light flicker into life, and it turns orange I am now connected to the internet.

This is the ONLY way I can manage to get connected to the internet. This has got to be wrong! I thought at first that it might be my Bullguard firewall but I have actually disabled this as well as windows firewall, and it makes no difference.
I have been on the phone to ‘Talk Talk’ for hours and hours (this is no exaggeration) and no-one can help, they say that my computer is at fault and that I should take it back to the supplier, but I believe this is rubbish. Please Please Please does anyone have any suggestions.
