I have a problem with Outlook Express. I'm running OLE 6 which is part of the IE6 package that came with my Gateway Windows XP Home package. OLE has worked for years with out problems but lately it's been shutting down with out warning. Some times while sending a msg, some times just for the heck of it. I haven't seen a specific pattern. I have run extensive antivirus and spyware scans with the Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite and Spybot Search and Destroy running on my computer. I always have ZAISS and Spybot Teatimer running to block in coming malware. So far I've been unable to find out what is causing this. I did notice that my privacy filter in ZAISS caught an attempt to link to the website "img29.plebius.net". I have that completely blocked so a connection can not be made thought it continues to try. The attempt at connection appears to be a Java or Active X script that is running on my computer but I've been unable to find the one that is doing this and I don't know if this is related to the OLE6 problem. Can anyone tell me how to track down what's causing this problem. I have heard that there are malware called ZeroDay that can hide in the Windows OS, but my programming and OS knowledge comes mostly from the DOS and CPM days. I don't know how to get to and search the Windows XP hidden system files or even if that's where I need to look.
Does anyone have any ideas?
