Unhappy Solved: Mail pictures attachmets come blank
Ok, I am totally confused. A friend sends me a photo and I can never open in any mail - Outlook Express, Hotmail or Yahoo. When I open it up it ONLY gives me a blank square, that's it.

Does it have something to do which format she sends it in?

Any help will be appreciated. It's just a picture of her daughter she sends. Nothing fancy.

Please help.

P.S. in OE I already unticked the boxes that have to do with the security, virus etc. Did not help.

What file types are the pictures?
What program are the pictures opening in?
What program are you using for e-mail?

Also, what E-mail program is your friend using and how are the pictures being sent, attachment or embedded in the body of the E-mail?

She is using Outlook Express (OE). It's imbedded in the mail body. I am not sure what type of file it is.

My default program is OE. She sent to OE as long as Hotmail. I open the pictures, if I open in Paint Shop Photo Album 5.

You're opening the pictures in a separate program, but they're also embedded in the message? And you don't see anything in either location?

Do the pictures not display in either Hotmail or in Outlook Express? I assume you're not checking Hotmail through OE. Are you the only recipient of these messages with this problem?

DoubleHelix, the picture is not displayed anywhere at all. No I am not looking into Hotmail from OE.

Guess what?? This friend sent me the same photo but this time as an attachment via Outlook Express, and it did work. Why it did not work as embedded I don't know. I suggested to her in the future to always send the pictures in the attachment.

Problem solved! I appreciate all your guys help in it. You have been great!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you much.

Laura.
