Outlook "Installs" Itself Every time I Open It
I sent this in to the Microsfoft Outlook News Group and did not receive an answer. This is curious because I know that several Outlook experts monitor the news group ...

Recently, Outlook 2003 seemed to freeze for a few minutes before it would
open. I went to the Control Panel and attempted to "Repair" the application.
In the process of the repair, the program in the Control Panel asked me to
locate a file. I retrieved the Office 2003 CD, placed it in the machine, and
pointed the installation program to the CD. Soon, the repair was done. I was
able to open Outlook with no problem.

However, the next time I attempted to open Outlook, and every attempt since
then, the machine runs a short installation program prior to running the
program. The installation program requires nothing of me and takes just a
short while.

Even though everything works, it is irritating to wait for the installation program to finish for Outlook to open. What can I do to fix this problem?

OS = Vista Home Premium

Hi coover

Can you give specifics on any messages that are generated during these repairs?
A screen shot, possibly?

Have you tried creating a new Profile for Outlook 2003 to see if the behavior persists?

Do not Import any messages, Contacts or E-mail accounts.
Manually create your e-mail account.
Start Outlook 2003 with the new Profile, close Outlook and restart with the new Profile.

Let us know what happens.
