Solved: Unable to access facebook or hotmail
I have 2 machines both identical and I am unable to access facebook or hotmail on both.
I have tried internet explorer 7, firefox and google chrome all to no avail.
I am able to ping facebook to do a tracert
However the browser just hangs.

I am able to access it from my work PC as normal and at a friends house but another friend has the same problem as me.

I have done all the basics like deleted cookies, virus scans, malware etc all to no avail.

I have even re-imaged my PC to no avail.

I have dismantled my network and just connected to the internet using 1 computer and a USB modem with no effect.

I believe it to be a routing issue external to my own network.

This issue must be effecting other people as well.

I work in IT and believe i have checked all the obvious and the not so obvious, but any help would be warmly recieved

Thanks
Andy

Ok the real course of my problem was the DNS servers i was using.

I was using a static IP Address and had manually entered my ISP's DNS servers into windows XP. These DNS servers has become out of date and did not handle to protocols for hotmail and facebook correctly.

After geting the most upto date DNS servers from my ISP mu issue is now finaly resolved.

So anyone else who finds they are unable to access spacific websites like facebook , hotmail, microsoft technet etc and have manually configured there connection, chech you have the latest DNS severs as they may have become out of date.

If you still have an issue it could be the Vundo virus which is known to stop access to spacific sites.
