Hello!

We have a 2003 server that runs mail and file sharing.
Exchange version: 6.5.7638.1

Every other night or so it crashes, the error log reports:

The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error:
The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed.
The MAPI provider failed.
Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
ID no: 8004011d-0512-00000000

So what i've done is set the server to auto restart every morning, which solves the problem for now..

Any suggestions about the error?

I was gonna suggest exactly what you have done, i.e. the reboot. I had similar issue with Exchange 2000 and did this until I found the solution.

Had is got anything to do with the backup? Or is one of the Exchange Services set to start with an invalid username/password.

Thanks for your reply. I thought it was backup so i have deleted all the daily and weekly backups.

I mean its strange, it didn't crash last night. I reckon tonight it will.
