Internet browsers don't finish loading
For the past few days, I've been having a problem with all of my internet browsers (Firefox, IE, and Safari). When I load them up, they work for about 10 minutes or so, but then they stop loading the contents of a URL (I can press the buttons on the browsers, so it hasn't frozen). Additionally, when I go into the task manager to end the process for Firefox, it doesn't end and stays on the list. Can someone please help me figure out how to fix this? I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Could be that you have too many programs on and its overloading your CPU. If thats not it it might be your internet connection.

How many is "too many"? I know that I have a lot, but my computer's had quite a few programs for a while (a year or so) and the browsers are only starting to act up like this now. Also, I don't think that it's the internet connection because the internet on my dad's computer works fine.

Vista needs a lot of RAM to work properly. If you have too many programs running in the background, you might get slowdowns. How many programs are starting up with Windows?

I'm not sure if it works the same with Vista but with XP, go to Start / Run and type msconfig. Look under startup and see how many applications are checked. Chances are you don't need so many.

Is having about 55% of RAM right before Safari is opened bad? If so, what can I do about it?

You should show us a screenshot of what applications start with your Windows. Someone will tell you what to uncheck. Or, post a HJT log.

Can you access your programs starting with Windows, with msconfig?

You can press the "printscreen" key, then open MS Paint and click on paste to get your screenshot. Then, save the picture and post it here.

Or, post a HJT log that will show the running services.

Here it is. Also, Firefox now crashes every time I start it up.

Sorry. I thought you meant the task manager. I'll take a screenshot of the ms config thing as soon as possible, but I'm not sure about what this will do to solve my internet problems.

Wow!!! You do have a lot of things checked, in fact everything.

I think we found your problem.

A lot, if not the most part, can be unchecked. It doesn't need to start with Windows nor run in the background. That really slows down things!

Thanks. So what exactly can be unchecked? I know that stuff like Yahoo music can be unchecked, but I'm not sure about the rest.

I would prefer leaving that to someone more qualified than me, like flavallee. I know of some things you can uncheck but not all of them.

There are plenty of examples:

Quicktime
RealPlayer
Nvidia
iTune
Adobe Acrobat
Winamp
Yahoo
surely many more...

You have to keep everything related to your antivirus and firewall though.

I can garantee that a good clean up will speed up things on your computer!
