Red face Another Firefox problem
Okay I just downloaded and installed firefox for the first time. As far as I know there were no programs running during either process. After complete installation, I went to click on the icon, the hourglass showed for a second then disappeared like nothing happened. I have tried the following:
computer restart
dirty/clean install
checked firewalls (the best I know how)
and still I got nothing. I tried the Mozilla live chat but they kept hanging up on me, go figure? I posted in Yahoo for help and they basically said do what I have already done.
Is there a virus or something that wont let me open it? Please help me.

Sorry I just realized I put this in the networking area instead of web and I dont know how to change it or if I can.

I would uninstall, restart the computer, then go to Mozilla site and download again, make sure you select the version for your operating system.

Like oldsaltoz said uninstall it then restart your computer. Then download the latest version of the Mozilla firefox. Then it that happened again try to do it again but down load the later version like Version 2.0. If that still didn't help scan your computer for viruses and then go to the to the program and files folder and delete the fire fox folder there.

Okay, I uninstalled firefox and restarted my computer then downloaded and installed firefox again but it still doesn't work. I wil try to download the 2.0 version but I am on dial up so it might take awhile. I am a little unsure of how to do a virus scan. I have the AVG free edition 7.5.

What is your operating system?

Download Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com.

One other thing. I don't know what you mean by "check firewall" but you probably need to disable it before you download it. Then do the installation and click on Enable firewall. Then try to launch it.

If this still doesn't work, try going into the firewall settings and granting Mozilla and Firefox access. (This is usually a list or something you add yourself, with a checkmark that they get access). With some firewalls, Firefox can run into trouble but I had a similar problem and solved it this way.

Is it updated? Just click the desktop icon on your desktop then it'll guide you just read it's instructions and it'll be just fine. Or you can go to "my computer" right click the "local disk C:" then click the the Scan With AVG. that simple. But if you have other partitions like "Local Disk D:" you must do the same procedure like the the C: after it was been scanned.
