Solved: Outlook 2007 locks during startup
Suddenly I have a startup problem on Outlook 2007.
At startup, immediately after showing the operating window, the
program stops responding and locks up.
I made following attempts:
1) Start in safe mode and disable an addon
2) Check the pst for errors: it's OK
3) Disable the OutlookToday window to go directly to email
4) rename following files gradually, testing and restoring:
outcmd.dat; outlook.xml; extend.dat ; frmcache.dat
The above is a partial summmary of all the test done, without any
result. The program worked always without problems, excepts some need
to scan pst file for minor troubles.
At the moment the most important failure sign is the following:
Looking deeper into this problem I found that, step by step, at the
startup, Outlook creates the todo Bar and list of tasks on the right
side of the window. Immediately at the beginning the list is correct,
but in seconds of time it is deleted and start a scrolling operation
among blank lines (I understand it's non very clear, but it is
difficult to explain better). The scrolling along the task list is
without end and in the mean time the program is locked.
I hope someone may help me. I would like to check after deleting all
the tasks, but I am unable to enter the program to provide to that.
Thanks for your support.

Solved
[SOLVED]
I found the solution and report here for the benefit of others.

As I suspected the problem was around the list of tasks (the ToDoBar looks corrupted) I searched for a commandline input that could reset the Bar, as the normal startup locks the program.
The command line appropriate exists and is "/resettodobar".
The MS spec for it says "..clears and regenerate the To-Do Bar list for the current profile .."

It was only matter to go to start/run and time the correct command line input. Poof .. everithing now it's OK and running.

I suggest to take a look to this method and to the command line switches also for other similar problems.

Cheers
