Exclamation My Internet Won't Play Any Sound =(
Hey so I got my computer fixed from a friend and everything is working fine except the audio on my internet. Any sound I try and play makes my surround sound uselesss now. Well, not completely, my computer plays software audio and windows media just fine (would use itunes but I can't install it for some reason? If anyone wants to comment on this as well, much appreciated.) I've downloaded and installed the drivers a few times over but I can't get it to work. Anyone got any ideas?

Take youtube for example; I play a video, the video plays I can see the video, but, I cannot hear the video.

Assuming you're using IE, open your Internet Options, under the Advanced tab, in the Multimedia group, make sure the "Play sound in webpages" box is checked.

yes, i have all the latest updates, including the latest firefox. When my friend fixed my PC I know for a fact that he reformatted it and then split my hard drive into the original files before it crashed and a new one.

After saving the file, go to START > RUN > and type 'regedit' and then click OK
In the registry, select FILE > IMPORT and select the "missing.reg" file from your desktop
You should get a confirmation that it was imported successfully.

This is an instant fix ... your speakers should now work for web sounds, no reboot required.

First, can you tell me what's your exact registry version?

Go to Start, Run, type regedit.

You'll see the version under the "?" (click on it) at the top of the window.

Please download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything.
