Alright so My internet keeps loosing connection. I am using an ethernet cord plugged into my dorm room. The symbol in my taskbar tells me that it is connected but then it will not let me access the internet. sometimes if i unplug the cord and then plug it back in it will work for a few minutes and the same thing happens if i restart it. I have no idea if it is my computer or the campus internet. My computer is not even a year old yet The same thing happens when i plug into my roommates cord but she has a mac so her internet is fine. please tell me what is wrong and how to fix it. it is almost finals week. I am also having the same problem with the campus wifi. HELP!!!

First, you could try updating your Network card driver. Or, uninstall and reinstall it.

well i talked to one of the admin couselors at my school and they said that i have a virus and i should download spybot

Please download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything.

First of all, you don't have an antivirus. That's not a good idea, especially when using LimeWire!

I cannot see any evidence of malware but it doesn't mean you don't have any. Over 50% of malware don't show in a HJT log.

I can see traces of a probable past uninstallation of Symantec. This is a common cause for problems. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool and there's a good chance your problem will be fixed.

If it hasn't been uninstalled, it sure isn't running!

And please do install an antivirus as soon as possible. If you want to go free, get Avira Antivir.

thank you. i took it to the help desk at my school and they helped me install avg anti virus so that is taken care of. i havnt had time to get back to my room to see if i am still having problems but if i am i will let you know =] again thanks for all your help.

If you don't use Norton anymore, don't forget to remove it with the Norton Removal Tool. It's important.
