There are several known problems with IE8 aside from your problem..
You can uninstall and go back to IE7, if you care to?

How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?:

Thanks VistaRookie

IE8 is a bit buggy. Will consider IE7/newest Firefox

Cheers!
