Unable to Open Outlook
Wednesday, Microsoft Outlook (2000) worked fine. Last night, I was unable to open it to check email. I shut computer down and restarted, but no change. Kept getting box with message related to Set Config Application -- Microsoft Outlook has encountered a prblem and needs to close. We are sorry for this inconvenience. Send Error Report/Don't Send. I would really appreciate some help, even though I can't access email to see your thread link. I was hoping you could call me -- If it helps, Valis is a friend of mine from work...

heyya rodeo, hope you are having a safe fourth as well.

I removed your phone number from the post, that's never a good idea to post those or email accounts. If you have to post an email account be sure to use the word AT instead of the @ symbol.

As for the problem, go to start > run > type in outlook.exe /safe > enter, and see what happens. That will attempt to start outlook in safe mode; generally that will rap it sharply about the head and shoulders and it begins to act normally.

Let me know what happens.

Thanks,

v

It said unable to find outlook.exe/safe. I ran a search as well, with no results.

Am I going to have to run in safe mode from now on and type in outlook.exe /safe each time? -- I closed Outlook and then double-clicked icon to open and the same error message box as before popped up.

hmmm.

No, you shouldn't have to run it each time. If you go to help at the top, is there an option to repair ms outlook? Not too sure if Office 2k had that.

If it does, run that. You may need the disk, but maybe not.

For now, at least, we have a work-around. Now to fix the damn thing.

have a great fourth as well, Rodeo.....
