Why is Yahoo Mail Having So Many Problems Recently?
Hi Gang,

I have Yahoo Mail Premium. Recently, in the last week I've been getting a lot of error messages whenever I try to open my mail.

Like tonight it took 15 minutes and several tries to get Yahoo Mail to open.

Is this just me or is anybody else having this problem?

I've been having problems with Yahoo! Messenger (the IM protocol, not the software that uses it - I use Pidgin) lately. I think Yahoo's been having server problems and it's been booting users off.

EDIT: Other people I talk to on Yahoo messenger have problems too, it's not a problem on my end.

Can you describe your error messages? What's your web browser. Are you using Yahoo's classic view or the new version?

HI Phantom,

Most of the time I get no error message. It just takes a long time.

Sometimes I get an error saying connection has time out.

A few times I get and error saying I've stumbled on a temporary problem with Yahoo mail and that I should try again in a few minutes.

I don't have the exact wording because I haven't seen it a lot.

Here is the exact message:

Sorry for the inconvenience.

You've stumbled upon an unexpected, temporary problem. Performing your action again in a few moments will likely resolve the problem completely. If not, we suggest you try re-launching Yahoo! Mail.
If the problem persists, feel free to contact Customer Care about Error Code 5.

Thanks,
The Yahoo! Mail Team

yahoo error 999
i have recently also had interuptions with yahoo mail. it is getting really bad. many times it freezes, or will not send. occasionally i get error message 999 "unable to process your request". i sent it to yahoo and the reply is

"The error you
received is typically caused by unusual activity from either your
computer or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to Yahoo!. While this
type of problem is usually temporary, if you continue to experience this
error, we recommend that you try the following suggestions:

1) Contact your ISP and let them know you are experiencing connectivity
problems with Yahoo!. You may have difficulty accessing Yahoo! if we
detect unusual network traffic coming from your ISP. Only your ISP will
be able to address and resolve this abnormal activity.

2) Check that you are not using any third party software program or
application to access Yahoo! services. Please keep in mind that these
types of programs are not supported by Yahoo! and may violate our Terms
of Service, and therefore may contribute to your receiving this error.

3) If you have not scanned your computer for spyware and viruses, please
do so now. Some spyware programs and computer viruses will run separate
programs on your computer for a variety of purposes, sometimes slowing
your computer down in the process, and even preventing you from
accessing certain Internet sites such as Yahoo!."

as far as my computer is concerned, i know my connection can be not the greatest but usually it would mean interupted service and then continue. this is only happening with yahoo and nothing else. it happens with both mozillo and ie browser. my yahoo still works on my cell phone. i have no spybot adware and avg. its all been scanned.

Hi Happy,

I have contacted Yahoo multiple times about this. It is only a little better. I guess its the price we pay for an ISP that only charges 20 buck a year..

I was having problems with yahoo email about a month ago. I also wrote them and did not get a helpful answer. However, after 2 months of this, it did clear up on its own a month ago. they have been doing major changes, and in my opinion not all for the better. they automatically turned my account into a social networking type of account and unless you make your profile private, anyone can look you up and get info on you. Of course, Im not sure if just turning the profile into "hide" mode really does the trick, so Im thinking about completely doing away with yahoo and switching over to google only. they could have at least asked me before they made the switch. my friend had hers switched at some unknown time ago and only discovered this as people from her long long long past were all of a sudden writing her. something she did not want to have to deal with. And it seemed they knew all this info about her from her profile and she really did not want all of them to have that info!

Wow, I'd hate for some of the people from some of my "Long lost past" contact me....

That's one of the drawbacks of the 'brave new world' we live in. You can go on Facebook or My space and be in contact with some loser you knew in High School 30 years ago and all the sudden they're your "new best friend..."

thanx from some of the thoughts, but getting back to the problem with yahoo mail, if anyone has some suggestions as to how to resolve this, it would be appreciated. i somehow believe that others must have had this and been able to explain how they corrected it.

i also can't believe not can i accept that this is an overly common or typical problem with yahoo that we all just put up with. i know that yahoo's geocities just informed me that they are discontinuing their free website support. maybe this is related to their lack of any good service.

My problem of not being able to bring up my mail was solved by going back to the "Classic View."
