Solved: Outlook 2003 & Hotmail
Hard drive is dieing. I will replace the HDD, re-install Win XP Pro SP3. Office [ to include Outlook ] will not be installed on the new HDD.

Outlook 2003 configured for Hotmail; only email account in Outlook.

OE not used.

No other mail clients used.

Within Outlook 2003 is a folder "Hotmail" with many sub folders.

File > export > CSV [ Microsoft ] does not give me the option of exporting the Hotmail messages & folders within Outlook.

Open OE > create identity > file > import > addresses & messages EXCEPT
Hotmail are offered.

How to I transfer the messages from Hotmail [ to include sub folders ] to OE?

Thanks for your time.

Hi rainforest123

Please clarify, Outlook 2003 currently has all your Hotmail messages and you want to use Outlook Express instead for your Hotmail account?

EAF:
That is correct.

Office [ to include Outlook ] will not be installed on the new HDD.

Office 2003 will be installed on a different computer.

You should be able to copy or move messages that are in the Hotmail folders to folders of your own creation in Outlook 2003.

My Hotmail account was not grandfathered in, so I have not able to use the Hotmail HTTP server settings for years. If you look in the Hotmail account server settings, does it show an HTTP server setting?

If so, do the messages in the Hotmail folder in Outlook 2003 match the messages that are in Hotmail's webmail? You would need to login to Hotmail to verify.

Yes.

Solved! Unsubscribed.

You can now use POP to download Hotmail in Outlook Express:

Incoming mail (POP): pop3.live.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.live.com

See the following link for further authentication and server port settings:
