I get the save dialog every time I download. How can I get Firefox to obey me when I check "Do this automatically for files like this from now on."?

Options.
You should be on "Main"
So far down, you should see something saying "Downloads"
Place a check where it says "Close it when all downloads are completed"

You can also remove a check from "Show the Downloads Window when downloading a file"

Thank you, Blackmirror, but I'm afraid I wasn't clear. The dialog to which I am referring is the one that asks what I would like to do with the file and not to the actual download window (which behaves as I have directed).

Are you downloading the same type of file each time. For example if you check that box when you download a .PDF file, and then go and download an .EXE it will still display the pop up window. OR are you saying that it still pops up even for the same file type? I highly recommend you don't try to find a workaround for that pop-up box in general. It will be a HUGE security flaw.
