Angry Cannot connect to internet via router
I have an ASUS WL-520GC router. I can connect to the internet through my cable modem but I CANNOT connect to the internet after connecting to my router. I am able to connect to the router and receive a strong signal but, once again, I cannot get to the internet. I have tried contacting both my ISP and ASUS technical support- both of which blame my problem on the other. please, someone help!

What is the brand and model of your cable modem?

You should be able to get internet access as follows.

Reset router to factory default settings.

Unplug modem and router and shut down computers.

Connect modem to router's WAN (modem, internet) port and a computer to a router LAN port.

Plug in modem; plug in router; boot computer.

Assuming success you can configure the wireless and begin connecting other computers. If unsuccessful please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
