Unhappy Comcast online anything
What's with Comcast and new site(s)? Anybody know? I'm in middle of creating a LAN at home with my desktop and new HP laptop so I lean on the desktop to access Internet. I have never gone so slow as I now do on Comcast anything, and I supposedly have the fastest speed (digital cable). When I get this all set up I'll use my laptop to get mail into Outlook. But right now I'm very puzzled why everything moves like a Slowsky! It was NOT that way a little while ago when this machine was loaded with a lot of stuff.

And I see complaints all over Google. What gives? This machine is very clean. I just formatted it and reinstalled Windows 2000 with I.E. 6.0. No bugs, no anything to slow it with so little on it yet (I won't be using it except as needed for wireless router unless it's some special thing it runs that I cannot install on the HP on Vista and I.E. 8 (soon to be Windows 7).

Thanks much.

What bandwidth are you getting with a test such as Speakeasy?

If that is with wireless what do you get with an ethernet connection?

If that is with a router what do you get with a connection directly to the modem?

Not very fast. It's in the kbps range. That's way below what cable modem reports. But all other sites are quite fast was my point thus my assumption something's with Comcast. I know some ISPs are slowing the "little guys" down from what I heard on TV or radio.

I have a Linksys 100/10 ethernet installed in the desktop that has been just great with the cable modem Comcast installed a year or so ago.

I can use the desktop, but I cannot yet get the HP laptop to get going (I know it works as I can get onto a public Linksys wifi nearby.)

I have a Linksys RangePlus Wireless WRT110, but it's what's not working from my desktop as I have yet to figure out rest of setup which is why I'm going to call Linksys/Cisco.

I was just curious about why Comcast is so darned slow for me even when they keep doubling their speed (so they say).
