Internet Explorer 8 too slow?
I've been using IE (i usually prefer firefox) since it is the default browser for most machines and i didnt want to install too many programs on my old laptop.

is it just me or is it eating way too much resources? i hit ctrl+alt+del and i see the memory usage for IE8 is 117,000K even with just one tab open, it gets choppy even as i type this very message.

im running on 512 RAM with a 2-day old brand new HDD, i dont consider my notebook slow, although it isnt fast either. how can i improve this slow-ness?

is there a lite alternative for IE, maybe one of the previous versions?

The first thing to do would be to add more RAM. 512 MB is a minimum for XP but certainly not optimal. I recommend 1 GB.

Then, we might be able to trim down your Startup list and running processes.

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything
