Solved: FF 3.0.10 Web Search
I want to be able to clear out the web search field like if i go to google.com then go to techsupportguy.com and then close the broswer, when I open it back up, I dont want those sites to be popping up as suggestions. FF 1.2 didn't do this, so I have to believe I am just missing an option. I have gone to tools, options, unchecked the remember what i typed and keep history for X number of days, but that isnt doing it.

Thanks

Click on Search settings on the right upper corner of your Google page.

Scroll down to Query Suggestions and put a tick on Do not provide query suggestions in the search box.

Save Preferences.

I found it, but that did not solve my problem. I am looking to not have the popups when i go to the address bar. Like where I would type www.google.com.

Annoying isn't it?
If you upgrade to 3.5, you can select what gets displayed on the Options>Privacy tab.

For FF 3.0, The best way is to just disable it.
Quoted from google groups:
"Completely disable the autocomplete list (Windows and Linux)

If you would rather not have Firefox display autocomplete results at all. This method does not work on Mac.

1. In the Location bar, enter about:config
2. Search for the preference browser.urlbar.maxRichResults.
3. Double-click the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults preference and enter a value of -1.
4. Close Firefox.
5. Start Firefox again.

Now when you type in the Location bar, no list of results will be shown."
