I have exactly the same problem.

IE8 works OK in Vista and XP (on different machines)

I have tried everything that I can find by googling and also had a long call with MS. All to no avail. I would like to reload IE8 with a fresh copy but MS have not provided an IE8 download for win7. The Vista copy will not install on win7.

Like Hyper02 I would very much like to solve this.

IE8 Win 7 Links failure
Again - I have had this problem and did lots of reinstallation - to the point where I seem to have transferred some of these prombems to Firefox! However, I ran the batch file as an administrator and although it reports "access denied" the problems seem to have gone in IE8. Odd that so few seem to have it. I will move to 64bit IE8 once Flash works on it. Thanks for this helpful link - which incidentally, my IE8 would not follow - had to be copied and pasted initially.

Glad it helped. My IE8 has been working perfectly since the "cure".
