Solved: Firefox crashing
My default browser has been Firefox for many years now. However, after updating to the latest version (3.5.5), it crashes virtually every time I use it after going to only 2 or 3 sites. I never have more than 3 tabs open. I use CCleaner frequently, which is supposed to clean out the cache, so I don't think it's corrupted cache files. Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware say I have no spyware. Avira AntiVir says I have no viruses.

So what's wrong? Do I need to uninstall/reinstall Firefox?

OS is Win XP SP3 running on an Intel mobo with an E8400 Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB dual channel RAM.

In Firefox, open Tools> Add-ons and disable all your extensions. Restart Firefox and see
if it still crashes. If not, re-enable your extensions one at a time, restart Firefox after
each, until you find the one causing the problem.
You can also start Firefox in Firefox (Safe-Mode) from your programs list. This will
start Firefox without extensions and the default theme.

Well, I took another approach. After posting this thread, I said, "What the he**; I'll just uninstall and reinstall, then add the add-ons I want, and see if that solves the problem." I just did that. Only add-on so far is Ad-Block. I've tried FF a couple of times since, and no crashes. But as I add more extensions or add-ons, I will take note of what I last added when/if it starts crashing again.

Well, I've installed several more of the same add-ons and I had before reinstalling FF, and even a couple I didn't have, and it no longer crashes. So I'm going to chalk this up to something having gotten corrupted which the reinstall eliminated. Will mark thread as solved.
