Windows Mail to Thunderbird?

Hi,

Looking for some information from anyine who has imported theri contacts and email from Windows Mail in Vista to Thunderbird.

I downloaded the utility from Mozzilla called "Import & export Tools" which is an Add On that is indicated as being able to import eml files to TB. I was not successful in using this utilty

If there is someone out there that has migrated theri email & contacts successfully maybe you could provide the strps you took to make this transition complete. I have been trying for three days now with no success.

I am moving from Vista to Win 7 and with no mail client in Win 7 I am looking to use TB rather than Windows Live One Mail.

Appreciate any help you can provide

Were you able to find the .eml files, as described in Importing and exporting your mail?

Were you successful in exporting/importing your contacts?

If the .eml files aren't in the C:\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail directory do a search for them. Make sure the search options are set to search for "system" files and folders.

Hi Terry,

Well I tried everything and cannot solve this problem. I went to the directory and used the utility but the folders did not import all they did was dulicate in the WM directory? what a mess!! Finally got everything back to normal this am and I have removed TB from my computer as this is just too confusing.

I will have to resort to WLM and hopefully TB will come out with a revsion to address this very poor migrating problem.

Thanks for all of you help!

Sorry I couldn't help. Was hoping somebody with experience with Windows Mail -> Thunderbird would see the thread and come to the rescue.

Not a problem Terry! Thanks for everything. I am sure that TB will soon release a new version of the client that will include a method of importing and exporting detail to WM & WLM.

Thanks again!
