Thumbs down Cannot upload =[
I've tried to upload a simple .pdf file thats 800kb onto hotmail as an attachment and it didnt work. Just now I tried to upload a song appx 10mb to zippyshare.com and it says the connection was reset. By the way I am using Firefox, latest version.

I'm not using any firewall other then Windows default. I have Avast Pro as my antivirus program. I can download at normal speed but i just can't upload anything. =[

Can anyone help?

By the way. I'm using Windows 7. I haven't updated my tech details

Go to this website - http://www.speedtest.net/

It will test your download and upload speed. Check back with me what the upload result is

My connection speed should be 1.5/256. That's what I remember signing up to.

Forgot some major details.. I do have my computer hooked up to a router. Asus RX 3041. I've updated it's firmware to the latest one. I have a wireless Netgear router connected to the Asus router but don't think that would cause any problems.

So basically everything is going through the Asus RX 3041.

It sounds like your packets are taking to long to get out and back and such so the TTL is expiring before they can complete their travel causing you to get the error you are getting gonna say its due to your upload speed not sure what you can really do.

Try searching google for how to increase the TTL value of packets I know theres a registry key in windows and you can prob do it on your router just cant remember off the top of my head. And TTL means Time to Live this is so packets dont continiously travel the internet if an invalid destination has been given.

Hotmail is a Microsoft site. Try using Internet Explorer.

Shouldnt matter what you use to access hotmail, but I have seen it get grumpy on firefox before so its worth a try, I think theres a registry key to increase the TTL but I dont remember exactly would have to go back through my networking books.

Also remember a wireless connection is often times slower then a wired one. You could also look at the QoS on your router.

But I'm not using the wireless router. everything is connected via cable (ethernet connection) Only thing connected to the wireless is the iPhone.

I reset all routers as well but nothing. =[
I just tried with IE and it didnt work. Hotmail, rapidshare anything I try to upload just doesnt work.

Would anyone know how to do this TTL thing? Its the only thing I have, to atleast try and fix this.
I read that Vista/W7 has that to Unlimited or something.. not exactly sure what that meant but said you wouldnt need to increase the value.

You can not have the TTL to unlimited its not possible or packets would bounce around the net and flood the internet as we know it we have the TTL to stop this to force a packet that isnt going anywhere to die after I beilebe 64ms is the set time.

How far are you from the router with your ethernet cable because you have to remember you can only be a certian distance believe its 300ft before you experience dramatic packet loss.

Ah then must have been reading wrong, or just didn't understand. lol

Everything is connected to the router they're actually pretty close. The 2Wire modem is right next to me and the router is too and so is the Wireless. The cables are a standard one so i don't know how long it is. I have it laid out so its not tangled in case that caused any problems. But you really think that would be causing any problems?

2Wire Modem 2071-A = Internet
Asus RX 3041 = (router or whatever, what everything is connected to)
NETGEAR WG602 V3

^^ if that helps.

I reset my modem, router and wireless thing once again. Went into the system config. and hit the restart button. Put in all my details to connect to the net again tried to upload, and it didn't work.

I went into the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
and made a new registry file named it "DefaultTTL" and added the value 255.Restarted the computer and uploading didn't work again.

Then i went into

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

did the same thing as above and didn't work. I tried with Firefox IE and Safari. Nothing!

So can anyone help?? this is getting pretty annoying that I can upload.

I rang up my ISP and they said they had no problems on their end. They made me do a speed test which i already did and said it was fine and i know it is. They didn't really help.

My next step is to try and get another computer/laptop and see if i can upload with that. In the mean time does anyone have any other ideas? clearing things out or anything. =[ sucks not being able to upload.
