help cannot connect to internet i am stumped Ok first off i am in USA ct to be exact my isp provider is comcast. My computer is a hp compaq model number dc7800 a convertible mini tower. my network driver is a intel 82566dm-2 gigabit network connection i had a broadcom as well same issue. Which is cant connect to internet limited connectivity or no internet limited network resources error. I just installed a new xp and added drivers though pci ethornet controller is not installed or other pci devices nor can find the drivers on hp support to install them. I released my ip address but it would not renew the ip address. i can ping myself i cannot ping a website. dn clients is set on automatic as well as tcp/ip. I tried fixwinsock.exe program and restart not fixed. ran avast and super anti spyware nothing found, I have been at this for hours and to no avail. I originally had it hooked to a belkin router before i reformated it could those previous settings be blocking it? I can connect through wired connection to my laptop just fine. problem is this is my wifes and shes a computer hog, any suggestions would be helpful, I really cant afford 55 an hour to geek squad. thank you ray

Go to www.belarc.com, (free) d/l copy program to disk, or flash drive Install it and run it on subject computer. This should give you the model numbers of each piece of hardware along with key/license numbers on software, installed on the computer. From there you can go to the site of the manufacturer of the item needed and get the drivers there. Another place you can get them is www.driverguide.com. Again free, but you must register to use it. Post back and let us know whether or not this has helpled. vicks

Okay, now when you have booted and try to hook up to the internet press the windows key and r at the same time. This will bring up the command box, type in cmd. click on okay. when the balck window with white letters comes up type ipconfig /all (note space between ipconfig& /) then click enter. When that is done type in ipconfig /flushdns (again note the space). Now try to connect to the internet and see if this works. good luck Post back and let us know how it goes. Vicks

If the above doesn't resolve your problem please show us ... Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt: (For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start) Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL [Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.] Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I did that exact still cannot connect to internet. i will say the guy i bought the computer originally used it primarily in his shop. i was on the phone for over an hour with comcast to no avail checking settings and refreshing modem. and they said i couldnt create a static ip address it would totally throw all computers off line.
