â?? sprinkled thru text
I just received an email from the UK with an attachment of text about a scientific discovery. Through the text was sprinkled here and there the character combination â?? I believe it a result of a character coding I am using that does not recognize correctly a character code in the transmitted document. If I am correct, what coding should I try in order to read the document as it was written?

I think scientific fonts are already installed in XP.
Is it possible they are using greek caracters?

Could there be Greek characters? Yes, very possible.
If it is a Greek character, then it is the same one throughout. That, too, is possible, since the context is a quantity usually symbolized in atomic spectra by alpha.

How do I get a correct representation of both Roman and Greek characters in the same document or email ?

Thanks for your attention.

Probably just need to install the proper font.
There are instructions here for greek and some downloads.
Should be able to do a web search and find some roman fonts.
