Unhappy email links not working in Opera
Whenever I click on an email link in Opera, everything starts to shudder and I have to close down. So at the moment I use IE for such times. Can anyone help please?

re: email links not working in Opera
Hello,
I to have long been suffering with the same problem
with Opera on Windows 7. Whenever I click on a
"mailto:" URL, the browser window keeps redrawing
itself very quickly, and I lose control and have to
kill it.

Seeing that others were having this also, I finally
spent the time to come up with the work-around.
You cannot use the default email program setting in
Opera for some reason, but *almost* the same values go
into the "other application" fields.

To fix the problem, in Opera, open "Tools ->
Preferences -> Advanced -> Programs", select the
"mailto" protocol, and hit the "Edit" button.

In the "Protocols" dialog, select the "Open with other
application" option, and retype exactly the same
program name as appears in the "Open with default
application" field, but do *not* include any
parameters. For me, the program path was:

C:\MICROS~1\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE

In the "Parameter" field, type the remaining part of
the "default application" field, but instead of using
"%1", you must use "%t" (without the double quotes).
For me, the value was:

-c IPM.Note /m %t

Opera should work with "mailto:" URLs now. The page
http://www.opera.com/press/contact/ has lots of mailto
links to test on.

Hope this helps.
