Hi, I've setup a "test environment" of a windows domain at work, so that we can show our employer the benefits of utilizing a Windows domain in our work environment across Southern California.
We currently have (01) Domain Controllers running the roles of AD, DHCP, DNS.
I then setup a "Hamachi Gateway Network" online, and installed the Hamachi client on the workstations listed below.
Domain Controller #1
Location: Long Beach, CA // OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
Roles: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS
Workstation #1
Location: Compton, CA // OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Note: With the following settings listed below, I was able to successfully join the computer to the domain.
Network Adapter: (Settings from Network Connections)
Hamach - ###-###-###
contoso.com
Hamachi Network Interface #2
Ethernet adapter Hamachi - ###-###-###: (Settings from IPConfig)
Connection-specific DNS Suffix: contoso.com
IPv4 Address: 10.10.10.151
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:
Workstation #2
Location: Los Angeles, CA // OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Note: With the following settings listed below, I was unsuccessful in joining the computer to the domain.
Network Adapter: (Settings from Network Connections)

Hamachi Network Interface #2

Connection-specific DNS Suffix: contoso.com
IPv4 Address: 10.2.10.152
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:
Workstation #3
Location: Santa Ana, CA // OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Note: With the following settings listed below, I was able to successfully join the computer to the domain.

My question is why is "
Workstation #2" showing up as "Unidentified Network" and using a different IPv4 Address than "
Workstation #1" and "
Workstation #3"?
