Using it won't have any affect on the HiJackThis log.

What do you mean by "I tried it and nothing happened"?

You need to download and save that .reg file, then close all open windows, then right-click that .reg file, then merge it into the registry.

Maybe I should have said I down loaded it and nothing changed.
This is what I did- saved it to the C:\ temp. Then double clicked and said yes to run. There was nothing that said merge. You wrote that I have to merge it. So I went back to the file and right clicked on the file in C:\temp and saw merge, clicked on it. No windows were open, restarted the computer. There was no change to the Power Schemes still no “Always on”.
Could it be that it just won't work for my computer?

After you right-click and click "Merge", it should display a window and advise you that the merge was successful.

-----------------------------------------------------------

You should NOT download and save files inside a temp folder.

You should create a folder on your desktop and name it Downloads or whatever name you want, then direct all your downloads to be saved there.

Sorry it did say merge was successful. About the temp folder you are right, I sometime just don't think things thru. Can I do anything to move that folder or file to a desktop folder? I would like to make things more easy for me.

If it did say the merge was successful and you're still not seeing an Always On setting in the power schemes box in Control Panel - Power Options, then the registry hack apparently didn't work.

I'm not there to see what your file and folder system looks like and what's in them, so there's no way that I can safely walk you through moving them around.

Downloads and personal data should NOT be saved inside temp folders.

Part of regular computer maintenance is to delete the contents of temp folders.
