Unable to receive fax w/ Ver 7 Fax and Scan
Just installed a Zoom FAX/USB modem # 3095 on a Win Ver 7 OS. Can send but unable to receive a fax. I can hear the modem "try" to connect, but receive error message (see attached .jpg)

Am pretty sure I've installed everything correctly, including the Fax Settings screen under the Tools drop down menu.

Any suggestions?

Do you have distintive ring set up with your phone company?
When it does answer like a fax, is that when you do it manually?

Couriant,

There is no distinctive ring and I did/do not answer manually. I receive the message per .jpg attached (fax_incoming_msg.jpg). Gotta be something simple, but it's frustrating.

what type of internet do you have? DSL/ADSL or cable? If cable is your phone also through the cable company?

We use DSL and the modem that came from Verizon. For FAX purposes, we have a separate and dedicated USB FAX modem.

The FAX modem is connected w/ USB. The DSL modem is connected to the CPU thru the ethernet cable. The telephone line (same number, 610-974-8419) - using a splitter - goes to both the DSL modem and the FAX modem.

By the way, I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Don't you need a filter on the line going to the fax modem?

Tried it both ways. Nada. Sender receives "line error" messages.
