Question Can't access ONLY one website from one particular computer
Hi All,

I am new to this.
I already tried to search for a solution but could not find an exact replica of my problem. I have two computers connected to a cisco router, one is connected with an Ethernet cable, and the other through wifi.

the thing is, recently, i cannot access one particular website "www,timesofmalta.com" with the computer connected through ethernet, but the wifi one is ok.

The computer with this problem has a win 7 OS while the other(wifi) is on win XP.

I already tried dns flush command, and reset the modem(router). When using tracert and ping i got all packect from ping and tracert found the webpage.

The funny thing is if i use a web proxy such as http://www.hidemyass.com/ i can access the website no problem.

I contacted my ISP, which did noy give me much help, but told me its a problem i have in my computer. Contacted also the IT guys for this website and asked them if I was blacklisted but i was told that i was not.

I really don't know what happened.

ANY help is really appreciated.

THANKS

Hello Kbonello: Not to sure what kind of situation you have going on but you could try a few items to help isolate and possibly correct the problem.

1) If you have Win 7 64 bit try using the 32 bit Internet Explorer versus the 64 bit.
2) Temporarily disable any firewall of antivirus programs running.
3) Delete all old browsing history and caches.

A neat little program I use to clean my system every so often is called MRU-Blaster. It is a free program by Javacool that has been around for many years and is safe to use. If you use the program.... download, set-up, and then go to the settings section and look for add-ons. There you will find Cookie-Blaster and Temp Internet file removal.
MRU-Blaster and its add-ons does a very through job.

Hope that helps solve your problem.

Hi Davey7549

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your helping me.

Actually i forgot to mention that yes, i am using win 7 64 bit. But i also tried different browsers, Google chrome, ie 64 & 32 bit. Also i did the usual history clean, cookies, cache etc.

Also i tried switching off antivirus, firewall. Also i checked router, since it has an inbuild firewall if the site is in the blocking list, but there is nothing and to be sure i resetted the router/modem.

Maybe the mru blaster would help. Let me try that .

Thanks for your help. Will keep you posted

I would be extremely surprised if your router or modem was causing the problem since the XP install is using the same equipment successfully.
What message are you receiving when you attempt to connect?

Try refreshing your DNS resolver cache by following these steps:

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Type cmd /k ipconfig /flushdns

Press Enter.

Hi Phantom010

I tried the cmd /k ipconfig /flushdns command, but still the page won't load. It keeps on loading forever.

I thank you for your help.

If you have any other idea i'd like to hear it. I don't know what else to do.

Hi Phantom010

Thank you for your help.

Here is the info from the hosts file.

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
