Typo when entering user name - I'm now Greu!
I'm just setting up a new computer, and not used to the keyboard. When I was installing the operating system I was asked for a User name. Before I had a chance to do anything it had accepted the name GREU and moved on to the next step. No back button! Bloody i7's, so fast!

I've tried doing a search in regedit for GREU, changed it in one place, but its still showing up all over. Is there a complete fix to this or should I resign myself to being known as Greu for the next few years?

Change what you changed back. You'll never find all the places. Create a new account and delete the old one.

I changed the user name but that doesn't make a difference Elvandil. I'm not sure what happens when win 7 installs, I've had the same problem with a computer my mum gave me, that original user name seems to be set in concrete and I've never been able to find THE place to change it. It seems there isn't a way to do it, but I'm hanging on to the hope that someone might know!

So just to be clear, if I go to Control Panel > User Accounts, it just shows my account as Administrator, and that's in my name. But, if I go to C: users: I get three folders - Default, Public and Greu.

As I said, changing a name is very difficult and you will most likely never find all the places to do it. Just make a new account with the name you want and delete the old one (or copy its profile to the new account first if you have it set up and programs installed).

The article suggests exactly the same thing that I did.
